Awards at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show

We are delighted to announce that:

  • Jessye Opoku-Ware was awarded YJA Young Sailor of the Year.
  • Jon Holt was recognised by the RYA for his remarkable contribution to the sailing community in their Inspirational Guiding Light award this weekend.

Surrounded by his deservedly proud family, Jessye was recognised by the YJA for his ongoing commitment to sailing and helping others. Jessye won the Cowes Youth Week Trophy for Flying 15 success in 2024 and is a true all-around sailor, competing on a range of dinghies and keelboats.. Moreover, he is a passionate advocate for others’ development.  Huge congratulations Jessye!

We are thrilled for Jon that his passion, drive and commitment to the GCA school sailing programme, has been acknowledged in this way.  Over the last 10 years, he has supported more than 1000 inner city state school students to get on the water, to rise to the challenges and to follow their individual ambitions.

Thank you to the RYA and YJA for all your support.
